Hyundai is all set to launch its latest product in the Indian market, the Verna next month. Here are 10 things that you didn’t know about the all new car:
The Verna will continue to be powered by the same lot of engines that are on offer on the current generation vehicle. This means there will be a choice of 1.4 and 1.6 liter engines, both in the petrol and diesel guise. While we were initially expecting a new SHVS system to be offered, the vehicle will most likely not be getting that now.
Currently, the Verna comes with disc brakes up front and drum brakes at the back. The current spy shots of the new car suggests that the company is going to be putting disc brakes at the front and at the back, which means it will have better braking capability. This will not be the first vehicle in the segment to get this though.
Hyundai has been following a new design theme and according to that, the new Verna will look a lot more like the Elantra. For starters, it will have the larger grille up front, the LED DRLs on the headlamps and new split tail lamps, something that we have come to see on the Elantra and the recently launched Xcent sedan. In addition to this, the car will also get better infotainment, similar to what is on offer on the new Elantra.
Hyundai claims that the vehicle now uses advanced high-strength steel of upto 54.5 % as compared to the 41.5 % which is currently on offer on the current vehicle. The torsional rigidity has also increased by 32%, which means the vehicle will have more strength. Currently, the Verna already comes with ABS and dual airbags as standard across the range, while the top end model gets 6 airbags.
Rear AC vent
While this may come as a surprise, the current Verna doesn’t come with rear AC vents. Yes, the i20 and the Grand i10 get it, but the Verna doesn’t. This will change with the introduction of the new model. The vehicle will finally get rear AC vents, something that is already on offer in the competition (Ciaz and City).
