Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra currently has the Ssangyong Rexton to take on the Fortuner. Sadly, the Ssangyong brand never caught on in India which has made Mahindra scrap their plan of bringing in any of the Korean manufacturer’s products in the future. What it will however do is to create an all-new large SUV, codenamed the Y400 based on the new Rexton which will have a Mahindra badge on it. So you will see a flagship Mahindra product coming from the brand that will sit above the XUV500. It will most likely be powered by a 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine making 184 Bhp and 420 Nm. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.

The Pajero Sport has been the sole bread earner for Mitsubishi in India. While the company still exists with a small number of dealers, they are planning on bringing the all-new Pajero Sport into our market soon. The vehicle has already been imported into India for testing purposes which makes us believe that the company could launch the new vehicle this year. The new vehicle is powered by a 2.4 liter turbo diesel unit making 178 Bhp and 430 Nm. The interiors have been spruced up as well.

Honda CR-V

Honda’s flagship SUV, the CR-V continues to soldier on in the Indian market. There is adequate demand for the vehicle since it is one of the only petrol SUVs in the segment. A facelift of the same was globally unveiled sometime back and the same will be launched in the Indian market sometime this year. The update is mainly visual, with the front end now sporting the new Honda family grill. This one will be offered with a diesel engine option as well. There may even be a 7-seat option on offer which could make the CR-V an interesting proposition.

Tata’s flagship SUV, the Q501 will be introduced mid next year. The vehicle will not only use a lot of expertise from the Land Rover brand, but it will also use parts like the chassis and the suspension components as well. Volvo XC60

Launch During: November/ Expected Price: 55 lakhs

Volvo will be launching their latest model, the XC60 in the Indian market later in the year. The SUV looks a lot like their newer generation vehicles, which means it has the massive grille with the Thor LED headlamps up front. The SUV will take on the GLC and the X3 when it is introduced in the Indian market. Given how well priced and well loaded their cars currently are, we expect this to be no different.
