Honda City sedan is quite popular in the markets around the world. The mid-size sedan, however, is most popular in India and Honda is working on the next-generation City, which will be launched in 2020. The all-new City will first go on sale in the Thailand market and following that, all the other ASEAN markets including India will receive the new-generation Honda City. The Japanese car giant, Honda has already started testing the vehicle in various regions including Thailand and India. Well, here are a few details of the all-new Honda City before it is officially launched in the Indian market.

The all-new Honda will look substantially different from the current version of the sedan. It will be heavily inspired by the Honda Civic and will get the big wraparound headlamps that will get full-LED set-up. The grille will be inspired by the look of the Civic and there will be a thick metal stripe running across the front-end, which will join both the headlamps. Styling details of the upcoming Civic remains under the shroud currently. However, the overall look of the Civic is likely to become much more futuristic than the current model. It will also become sleeker.

Globally, the all-new Honda City will get three engine options. There will be a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will produce around 120 PS of maximum power. It will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT automatic. The other engine options will include a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is an all-new engine. It gets the new i-MMD mild-hybrid system that makes its first appearance in new Honda Jazz that will be launched in the global market next month. This engine will produce around 140 PS but the exact power output is not known. Both 6-speed manual and CVT transmission are likely to be available with this engine option too.

Honda will continue to offer the diesel engine option even after the implementation of the stringent BS6 norms. The all-new Honda City will offer the 1.5-litre diesel engine that develops a maximum power of 100 PS and peak torque of 200 Nm. This engine currently powers the Indian version too and it will be upgraded to comply with the BS6 norms. It should be noted that Honda will also offer the CVT automatic with the diesel engine of the City when it launches in the Indian market. The manufacturer already offers it with the Honda Amaze and the same set-up will be available with the City too.

In India, the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine and the 1.5-litre diesel engine option will be available. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is unlikely to be launched in the Indian market due to its low fuel efficiency.

The cabin of the all-new Honda City will be upgraded all around. It will be based on the next-generation Honda Jazz and will come with many new features and a bigger infotainment screen. Honda may also offer connectivity options for live tracking the vehicle through GPS and other such connected features.
